Screen-printing is by far the most popular and economical method of producing large volumes of printed garments, and we at RAM Leisure & Workwear Limited specialise in all aspects of this procedure.

Screen-printing is a method in which ink is forced under pressure through a design-bearing screen made of a Nylon or Polyester mesh ( Formerly silk). The mesh if looked at through a microscope would look very similar to the stringed segments on a tennis racquet and the segments from which no print was required would be blocked out to stop the ink from flowing through.

For most prints a screen would be required for each colour and to produce each screen we would require the design artwork. Due to the time consuming procedures involved in bringing a design to print, it has been determined that this procedure would be regarded as uneconomical on orders of less than 50 items. Artwork

From the experienced customer knowledgeable about the screen-printing process we would accept film positives which should be provided at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi at actual print size, in the case of multi coloured designs films should be spot colour separated and include clear registration marks.

Suitable digital art files include those created and saved from a professional graphics program such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop at High Resolution.

Please note that Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Paint program files are totally unacceptable and cannot be used.

Our preferred file format is a generic eps file that can be opened and resized at any size and resolution we require. Acceptable files include eps, gif, jpeg, or bmp.

All fonts must be included with the exported file, or alternatively converted into paths prior to export.

Supplied artwork that is to be considered production ready should require nothing whatsoever to be done by our art department apart from produce films and must meet the requirements detailed above.

The quality of the artwork will determine the quality of the finished print.

Costing

On designs produced from simple text or numbers, which can be simply typed out in the preferred font and scaled to the desired size, there would be very, little or no charge whatsoever. The same would apply for clipart designs with added text and very simple images.

On more complicated assignments, the time spent on a design project will be tracked and billed to the customer, including the time spent on discussing concepts and making revisions to the concepts presented.
